The Phantoms have a new coach for season 2020

Welcome Ryan Willits

A message from the Football Director, Gary Peach:

The PHOS Camden Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Ryan Willits as its 2020 playing coach.

Ryan joins us as after winning an SANFL premiership with West Adelaide in 2015 after which he was the playing coach of Jervois Football Club in the River Murray Football League. His league career saw him play 175 games and achieve state representation. He also spent three years with Port Power in the AFL between 2006 and 2008.

Ryan will add valued experience to our ruck and forward stocks and plans on implementing an exciting new brand of football.

We welcome Ryan and his wife Kimberley to the PHOS Camden family.

Grantys Post Match Report

Disappointing end to a great season of football by the boys but everyone can hold their heads up high.

Looking back over the game,  Athelstone hit a few more targets with less turnovers while making the most of opportunities in front of goal and playing well as a team.

Jessie played the small forward position well kicking 3 with Harris 2 and singles to Jeffries, Campbell and Grant.

I thought the backline did well under pressure with Unger, Grant, Teakle and Cadzow working well together. Up forward Harris and Jeffries presented all day and Tomlinson hit the score board well.

The mids tried hard with Darby, Kouta and Dane doing the bulk of the work.

Grantys Prematch report

This years record against Athelstone is 2-0 in our favour, however The Raggies have beaten top side Unley whom only had 2 losses for the year.

PHOS B Grade host Athelstone in the first Semi Final on Saturday in which should be a great game of football

The boys have been sharp on the track this week and looking forward to redeeming last week’s loss to SHOCs

Coming into the side  we have Bayliss and Yeatman from the A Grade with Harris and Unger back from a week off.

Out go Manley and Finn to the C’s and we have lost Flett and Braley to injury.

Well done to Kouta on a well-deserved Association medal for the B&F in what has been a great year of football and leadership.

Also to Declan for notching 50 senior games for the club

C grade prematch report

The boys coming off a very good win against SHOCs take on Broadview and benefit with a home game thanks to the league matching us up to our B grade.

The record this year against Broadview is 2-0 in our favour however Broadview finished the minor round in 3rd position with good wins against SHOCs & Modbury.

Once again if the boys play to their best they can win.

Saturday 24th August

Finals Round 1

 A2  Salisbury North V PHOSC

lost by 73 points

Goals: T. Langford 2, A. Bergsma 2, D. Bonnici, L. May

Quinnys Post match Report

The highs and lows of footy have been experienced in the club from an A grade perspective over the past couple of weeks. To make the finals in itself was a great effort but in a year where things are very open to not take our best game to Salisbury North gives us a taste of the lows.

What a great effort by Hammo’s C’s in getting a win and the confidence that comes from that stands them well for Saturday. Granty’s two’s showed that not playing at their best leaves them within striking distance with some really good players coming back in so it is great we have two Senior teams taking us further in to finals.

A big thanks to our trainers and support staff with split resources they managed us all in the only manner they know and that is first class.

On to Saturday in the A’s and we were pretty well on the back foot from the start with only glimpses of our best footy. To Salisbury Norths credit they played really good footy that may take them a lot further. They were cleaner and more deliberate with everything.

Goal kickers were Tom Langford with 2, Aaron Bergsma with 2, Luke May and Dean Bonnici 1 each.

Our best were Nick Ramsey who worked hard all day in the mids, Orry Cross who played like a mid in and around the packs, Tom Finn who attacked the ball and tried to take the game on. Ryan Reavley was great with his attack on the footy and willingness to put his body in dangerous places. Lots of players had moments but we simply didn’t have enough. Bergs battled hard on the back of an injury hampered year and although not in our best I take my hat off to him getting out there. Our best was Dean Bonnici in a true highlight of the game. We threw him everywhere and he gave the same back and that was a switched on physical effort. Personally made a me smile to see.

A big thanks from me to John Buss who came in and plugged a hole on the sidelines.

So from me I wish all our Senior and Junior teams the very best in finals. Chase it hard and leave nothing un done.

I’ll finish by saying a massive “Thanks” to the players. You have provided so many small wins this season and to be able to be apart of this is truly rewarding as I have watched a group and individuals grow and mould together in a year that was tough from the outset.

Ta, Quinny.

B2 grade SHOCS v PHOSC

Lost By 17 points

Goal Kickers: S. Brown 2, N. Watts 2, N. Crouch
Best Players: D. Campbell, S. Brown, D. Laing, M. Molnar, B. Teakle

Grantys Post Match Report

Not the result we wanted on Saturday with the B Grade going down by 17 points.

Kicking with the wind, SHOC put on a 5 to 1 goal first quarter which hurt us in the overall context of the game.

The most pleasing aspect was the boys fight back in the third with a 3 to 1 goal quarter against the wind to put is with a big chance to in the last but unfortunately the guys ran out of steam.

To play one good quarter and lose by 17 points means there’s a lot of upside and the boys will bounce back this week.

Goal kickers were Soli and Wattsy with two and Crouchy with one. The better players were Campbell, Brown, Laing, Molnar and Teakle.

Great result for Hammo and Dingys C’s and bad luck to Quinny and the A,s.

Looking forward to this week and getting back on the winners list

Quinnys Prematch Report

Tomorrow it’s out to Salisbury North for the elimination final. The lads have trained well this week and what a great situation we have with so many players with solid claims to A grade footy. In the end 22 get their chance to push the A grade further in whats been at times a trying year. Can not speak highly enough of the group and the coaches.

I wish Granty, Rich and Kout all the best in the two’s and Hammo and Dingy with the C’s.

In the A’s we lose Rowie and Brenna to a wedding in QLD that has been planned for over a year. Both the lads have been great for us and a couple of decent outs.

We welcome back Harry Cumming and Bergs to replace, so two pretty decent ins. In finals we play 22 and Mark Yeatman returns to our side.

We are yet to beat them this year but we head out ready to play football to win.

Ta, Quinny.

Grantys Prematch Report

PHOS B Grade travel down Brighton road on Saturday to play our fierce rivals in Sacred Heart on the main College oval at 12.30pm.

Although we are one win each this season we did get the chocolates on there deck in the first round and we are looking at doing the same tomorrow.

The side is bolstered this week by the return of Boof Braley, Sam Taggart, Ben Teakle and Jacob Tidswells.

Mark Yeatman gets a well deserved inclusion in the A’s this week with Brad Longbottom returning to the C’s after equipping himself well in the B’s last week and Tom Unger is away.

Big week of Football for the club and I know everyone is excited to be playing finals.

Good luck the Quinny and hammo’s boys tomorrow

C Grade Prematch Report

The boys are coming off a massive win against an undermanned Scotch College.

The record this year against SHOCs is 0-2 but this week we are naming a strong full side and with complete "buy-in" there is no reason we can’t knock SHOCS off.

Outs are:

L. Conlon, D. Krieg ,D.Georgeson, J.Porter, C.Djurasevich & R.Taylor

Ins are:

B.Longbottom, M.Porter, J.Maguire, H.Sharp, C.Ding,

J. & A. Biagi, S.Meyers, J.Obrien
